I attended a cosplay workshop a couple of weeks back, and finally got the photos uploaded (There’s been a new phone in the interim that really messed with my schedule)
I walked in there knowing what I was doing, and I guess that was the point. Fast forward a few hours surrounded by some incredibly talented people who take their craft very, very seriously, and I knew I was going to get bitten by this bug…bad.
The level of detail some cosplayers put into their work is genuinely humbling, and inspiring! I never knew you had to have the personality to go with the cosplay you choose (secretly I hope no one expects that of me, because I’m the worst actress ever)
While I was searching for something to inspire my future cosplay outfit, I saw a breathtaking Sylvanas Windrunner in one of the workshop’s books. Yes, they had a library. Yes, I spent more time in there than interacting with people, go figure.
I’m not saying I’ll transform into a Warcraft beauty like her, but I’m not not saying I’ll try!
And yes, when I saw the Castiel poster I squealed out loud because I have the taste and restraint of a feral Supernatural fan from 2012.
No regrets.
I’m slowly building up my cosplay knowledge, one workshop at a time. The goal is to eventually put together something for an event — whether that actually happens is between me, my ambition, and my ADHD on any given weekend.
If you’re a cosplayer, I would love to know what your first outfit was…and how many hot glue gun burns you suffered for it!
Pyramid Head (top right in the first picture) had me frothing at the mouth to start painting miniatures…so that’s exactly what I did last weekend!
Take a look at my first attempt at doing a complete paint from primer to…(I want to say highlight? Or is it varnish?)
Look, there’s a lot to learn about this new obsession of mine. I’m still coming to terms with the fact that I need a magnifying glass to even attempt to paint accurately. Because I was so eager to start, I decided to raw dog without readers or anything…and well, I’m humbled.
While she looked okay at first glance after I’d done the basic base coat of primary colors (so “okay” that I immediately starting snapping photos)…when I zoomed in on those photos….
ICK.
Needless to say, my next painting session will be with some form of optical aid, because yikes. I’ll send some updates your way as soon as I’ve done another paint session.
Also, I have no idea if any of this jargon is correct, btw, so forgive me if I’m butchering the tech-talk.
I also went to a Lego show at one of our local malls and saw some really cool stuff there, but I’ll share that in next week’s newsletter!
Audio Reviews for Stalked
I’m so glad you’re all loving Stalked as much as I do! I am on tenterhooks for the last book in this trilogy to release it’s audio (I’m still waiting on a release date, btw) but I’ll update you with that info soon as I have it.
In the meantime, I’d love to know what your favorite audio scene has been to listen to, and if it delivered a similar (or better!) experience than reading that same scene.
